05 April 2006

Recent reports of a slowdown with S/List when moving from OI 4.1.3 to the 7 series have been extensively investigated and the cause found. When OIPI was rewritten to be native in the move to 7, several VB routines were recoded in Basic+. For various reasons to do most probably with late vs early binding this meant that the TEXTXY message became significantly slower. As S/List relies upon this the result of the decrease in OIPI TEXTXY speed is a net decrease in S/List speed. We have brought this to Revelation's attention and they are considering it. As soon as we have any news we'll let you know.

Further to the last SENL in which we bemoaned the expense of domestic flights in the US versus International - the point was further underlined when booking two Sprezzatura consultants to the West Coast for a consultancy gig.

The UK fair was a reasonable $1500 (reasonable as short notice) - the best that Expedia could do for the Philly -> SFO trip was $2300! Fortunately SFO isn't the only airport out that way so we were able to get a better quote, but still it underlines the vagaries of flight pricing!

"Don't suppose there's a BARUG meeting between the 30th Jul and 13th Aug? <g>"

Well as you can doubtless work out we've been a tad busy in Sprezz for the past few months with the setting up of Revelation Software Ltd. As you can tell from their site they're well established now (if you haven't seen it check out http://www.revsoft.co.uk - puts ours to shame) and Sprezz is back to concentrating on what we do best - Revelation consultancy. With the product developing so quickly it can be difficult to keep up at times but we're staying ahead of the curve and we've got some great stuff to tell you about. We're hoping to get an SENL out before Xmas to give you something to play with!

To all of our American clients, colleagues and friends (almost seems redundant as to the best of our knowledge none of our clients are enemies)  to quote Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince "We'd like to take this opportunity to wish y'all a Happy Thanksgiving but we'd also like to encourage you to take this opportunity to pause - just take a minute and stop and look around at your family and thank God for them, because they will not always be here with you - Peace".

9th July 2002

We look forward to being of more assistance to our European clients.

We are frequently asked if we are able to provide support for legacy AREV applications, especially where the original supplier has gone out of business or changed direction. We are VERY pleased to do so and will use all reasonable endeavours to keep you working and productive.

If you're the user of a legacy AREV system and are in contact with other users then why not contact info@sprezzatura.com and we can configure a support package for you as a group! We can even discuss forming a consortium to move the application to OpenInsight or the web if this is of interest to you! And if you're feeling stranded because you don't know anyone else then don't worry - we're happy to support you individually! Some of our supported customers are still using software they bought 15 years ago in RevG! Nothing is too old for us to support.

Our consultants have extensive experience of a number of vertical market software packages so don't feel abandoned - contact us today!
