Applications written in AREV sometimes acquire a life of their own and continue to be used years after they were developed. However the rest of the world moves on and things like integrated EMail and integrated faxing become more important. With this in mind Sprezzatura have developed an EMail Server for Advanced Revelation and OpenInsight - S/Mail. This application (provided on a runtime copy of OpenInsight for AREV users) permits emailing directly from AREV/OI to a MAPI client, as well as faxing if suitable software is installed. (MAPI works out of the box, faxing requires some configuration). The idea is simple - the AREV/OI application makes a call to the S/Mail API telling it what to send and to who. The API passes this to S/Mail for processing and then S/Mail takes care of the business! The product is reasonably priced per server and we will install and configure it for you for one days consultancy cost. We will also supply a single user OpenInsight runtime license to drive the product where you do not have an existing OpenInsight system. Please contact sales@sprezzatura.com for a quotation for S/Mail. As you would expect from a Sprezzatura product, the software is fully configurable as the following screen shots show. (Bear in mind - this product was written in OpenInsight - we can make YOUR application look this good too!) Configuring S/Mail Data Source Configuration
In the Data Source page you are able to configure which files S/Mail should use to store related information. EMail Configuration
The Email configuration page specifies the EMail system to use along with a user profile and password. The system has been tested with Microsoft Exchange and Novell Groupwise. Fax Configuration
Currently S/Mail works with BitWise faxing software. We can configure it to work with your own software if required. Logging Statistics
If you want to record the results of S/Mail's activities you can specify where they ought to be recorded here. And naturally you can review the logs at any time :-
S/Mail in use When S/Mail is actually running a form displays showing activity as it happens as shown below.
Testing the installation When you have completed configuration you will obviously want to verify that it is working. For this purpose two testing screens are provided as shown below.
