The use of the various network products (the NPP, the NT Service and the NLM) are best used in conjunction with a REVPARAM file in every subdirectory containing a REVMEDIA map. This file is used to tell these products how to behave. The purpose of S/Param is to simplify the creation of these files in a nominated directory tree. It provides a straightforward wizard to assist the user in the creation of these files and their contents. Note that this document is not a replacement for the documentation that accompanied the network product and it should be used in conjunction with this documentation. Installation is straightforward. Simply run setup.exe in the supplied media. You will be prompted for the location of your OpenInsight executable and for your Sysprog password. Installation will then proceed automatically. To run S/Param you may either to the system monitor and type EXEC ZZWIZ_REVPARAM or you may shift doubleclick on the OpenInsight Window Executable ZZWIZ_REVPARAM. This will produce a screen as follows :-
clicking "Next" leads to this screen
Note the use of Utility32 technology to access long file names, let's drill down into drive C: and select our OpenInsight subdirectory.
now click on "Next" again
Here we see the parameters that may be set in a REVPARAM file. As we select a parameter the help at the side changes to reflect what is in the documentation for that parameter, so when we select GroupLockTime...
and MaximumOpenDOSFiles
next we decide what to do if the REVPARAM files exist already
and finally we review our options
pressing "Next" actually updates/creates the REVPARAM files
processing is complete so we press "Next" to finish
