Sprezzatura FAQ Pages
The easiest way to do this is as follows.
Ensure that nobody else is logged into AREV.
Go to the AREV menu and choose DB Admin, Columns, Define. You should get a blank screen with the title "Dictionary". Enter the table name and the column name of the column you wish to remove indexing for. Press return both times.
If the screen fills up with information about the column then you have spelt all the information correctly. If it does not then you have misspelt something so go back and retry typing the names OR press to choose from a list!
Once the correct information is up, press Shift-F1 to enter the indexing screen. There are three types of AREV index, if you are reading this you will have been referred from another page which will have told you the type of index you wish to remove and readd.
To remove a Btree index set the Yes to No next to the word Btree.
To remove an XREF index, note the delimiters and stoplist settings so you can use them again later.
Then press to save the changes. Confirm that you do wish to continue then press again to save your changes. You should be left with a blank dictionary window.
That's the index taken off. Now to ensure that everything is tickety-boo before putting it back!
Go to the Background menu and choose Housekeeping. Now choose Flush Indexes and wait for the system to come back to you!
