FILE
TextIt can frequently be necessary to read and write to files WITH identical
names on DIFFERENT volumes sharing the same name This is made impossible by
the (sensible) reluctance of the system to allow two files WITH the same
name to be attached at the same time Matthew Crozier of Vernon Systems
points out that a file does not need to be attached to access it Simply
attach the file and open it this will put the file handle into the file
variable Now detach the file and attach and open the new one

The file does not need to be attached for the file handle to work therefore
both files can now be written to As the file handle will contain the
necessary indexing information if the files are indexed there should be no
problems resulting FROM index transactions being written to the wrong file
especially in 2 1+ where the !INDEXING file has been removed
