| Title | QTIPS - Unexpected/Unwanted Modification Of Record On Write |
| Keywords | WRITE SI.MFS |
| Text | It is well known that when writing a record containing relationally indexed keys (related FROM rather than related to) to disk any programmatic modifications made to the field containing the key list will be ignored This ensures referential integrity What is less obvious is that the record being written to disk is actually changed by SI MFS if the keys on file do not correspond to the keys in the memory copy Thus a write can actually change the contents of the record being written! This can lead to unexpected consequences so bear it in mind (Volume 4 Issue 10 Page 8) |
